CloseJamison Hensley is a reporter covering the Baltimore Ravens for ESPN. Jamison joined ESPN in 2011, covering the AFC North before focusing exclusively on the Ravens beginning in 2013. Jamison won the National Sports Media Association Maryland Sportswriter of the Year award in 2018, and he authored a book titled: Flying High: Stories of the Baltimore Ravens. He was the Ravens beat writer for the Baltimore Sun from 2000-2011.

OWINGS MILLS, Md. — Baltimore Ravens tight end Mark Andrews is dealing with a “very minor thing” that has kept him out of practice since being involved in a serious car accident on Wednesday, coach John Harbaugh said Monday.

“We’re not messing with him right now,” Harbaugh said. “Don’t worry about Mark. He’s going to be fine.”

On Wednesday, Andrews was involved in an incident where two vehicles sustained heavy damage, according to Baltimore County police. The incident occurred while Andrews was driving to the Ravens’ team facility for training camp. The Ravens issued a statement that indicated Andrews did not suffer any apparent injuries.

Editor’s Picks

But Andrews has been absent for the past three practices since the accident. He was on the field before Saturday’s preseason game, casually catching passes from tight end Isaiah Likely, but did not participate in any drills.

Andrews is expected to make the trip with the team to Green Bay, where the Ravens will have a joint practice with the Packers on Thursday.

Asked about his reaction when he heard about Andrews’ accident, quarterback Lamar Jackson said, “All types of things go through my head. That’s Mark Andrews. But he’s good. That’s all that matters.”

Andrews, 28, has been one of the most productive tight ends since being a third-round pick by Baltimore in 2018. Among tight ends over the past five seasons, Andrews has totaled the second-most receptions (347) and touchdown catches (37) and the third-most receiving yards (4,305).
