There was plenty going on across Europe on Sunday away from the Premier League action.

La Liga giants Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid were both in action as they looked to close the gap to Barcelona at the top of the table following their postponement on Saturday.

In Italy, Napoli needed to win against Fiorentina to keep their hopes of winning the Serie A title alive.

On top of that, Juventus welcomed Atalanta for an evening clash in Turin.

Read on to see how each game unfolded.

Real Madrid moved level on points with La Liga leaders Barcelona after securing a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Rayo Vallecano at the Bernabeu.

Carlo Ancelotti’s men started brightly and nearly took an early lead when Vinicius Jr. struck the post with a low effort. However, their breakthrough came on the half-hour mark as Kylian Mbappe showcased his brilliance, cutting inside onto his right foot before firing into the far corner.

Just four minutes later, Madrid doubled their advantage, this time through Vinicius, who embarked on a fine solo run before finishing .

Despite Madrid’s dominance, Vallecano pulled one back before half-time when Pedro Diaz’s powerful strike cannoned off the crossbar and crossed the line, with goal-line technology confirming the strike.

Despite a dip in intensity from the hosts, they had the best chance of the half when Luka Modric brilliantly set up Vinicius, only for the Brazilian to miss a sitter from close range.

As the clock wound down, Vallecano applied late pressure, but their final deliveries lacked the quality to trouble Andriy Lunin in the Madrid goal.

Lopez attempted a speculative effort from distance in the dying moments, but it dragged harmlessly wide, sealing Madrid’s victory.

Getafe pulled off a stunning late comeback to secure a 2-1 victory over Atletico Madrid in a dramatic clash at the Coliseum Alfonso Perez.

After a tense and goalless first half, Atletico took the lead in the 75th minute through Alexander Sorloth, who converted a penalty following a VAR-reviewed handball by Omar Alderete.

However, the match took a decisive turn in the closing minutes. Mauro Arambarri equalised in the 88th minute, reacting quickly to a loose ball in the box and firing home to level the score.

Just moments later, Angel Correa was sent off for a reckless challenge, reducing Atletico to ten men and shifting momentum firmly in Getafe’s favour.

Deep into stoppage time, Getafe completed their comeback. Arambarri struck again in the 92nd minute, finishing from close range.

The goal was initially checked by VAR but was upheld, sending the home crowd into raptures.

Atletico pressed for an equaliser in the frantic final minutes, but Getafe held on for a huge win.

Napoli secured a vital 2-1 victory over Fiorentina to reignite their Serie A title challenge, ending a five-match winless run.

From the outset, Antonio Conte’s men dominated proceedings. The hosts created early chances and eventually found the breakthrough in the 26th minute when Romelu Lukaku pounced on a rebound, finishing clinically after David De Gea parried a Scott McTominay shot into his path.

Napoli continued to press forward and nearly doubled their lead before half-time. Giovanni Di Lorenzo struck the crossbar with a powerful effort, while Leonardo Spinazzola was denied by De Gea’s quick reflexes.

In the second half, Napoli reduced the tempo, allowing Fiorentina a way back into the match. However, on the hour mark, Lukaku showcased his strength and vision, holding off his marker before setting up Giacomo Raspadori. The Italian forward, unmarked in the box, slotted home to double Napoli’s lead.

Fiorentina responded six minutes later, with Albert Gudmundsson curling a superb strike into the corner following a clever flick from Moise Kean. The visitors pushed for an equaliser but struggled to break down a disciplined Napoli defense.

Napoli had the chance to seal the win in stoppage time when Giovanni Simeone broke free from the halfway line, but the Argentine forward fired straight at De Gea. Despite the late miss, Napoli held firm to claim a deserved win.

Atalanta delivered a stunning performance to thrash Juventus 4-0 in Turin, leaving the home crowd in disbelief as fans filed out well before full-time.

Gian Piero Gasperini’s side were dominant from start to finish, while Thiago Motta’s Juventus barely mustered a response in a miserable evening for the Bianconeri.

The visitors opened the scoring in the 29th minute when Mateo Retegui coolly converted a penalty after McKennie handled inside the box.

Juventus struggled to gain any attacking momentum, failing to register a single shot on target in the first half, while Atalanta came close to doubling their lead before the break with Lookman hitting the post and Ederson narrowly missing from range.

Atalanta wasted no time after the interval, making it 2-0 within a minute of the restart. Marten de Roon pounced on a loose ball after Di Gregorio parried Lookman’s shot, smashing it into the net.

From there, the floodgates opened.

In the 66th minute, Zappacosta extended the lead after a clever backheel assist from Kolasinac, slotting home from a tight angle. Juventus, now completely deflated, offered no response, and the Allianz crowd began to thin out rapidly.

The humiliation was completed in the 77th minute in bizarre fashion. Dusan Vlahovic, just on as a substitute, slipped in the center circle, inadvertently sending Lookman through on goal. The Nigerian’s strike deflected off Kelly and nestled in the bottom corner to make it 4-0.

Juventus finally forced Carnesecchi into action late on, with McKennie’s header drawing a superb save, but it was far too little, too late.
