Real Madrid racked up seven goals to win a thrilling Liga F contest against Madrid CFF at the weekend. Meanwhile, relegation-threatened Real Betis had to settle for a draw in their derby meeting with Sevilla.

Barcelona may not have been in action due to their European commitments, but we still have seven games to round up from an exciting weekend of Liga F fixtures.

Real Madrid 7-3 Madrid CFF

Alba Redondo tapped home from Athenea del Castillo’s low cross to kick-start the scoring for Real Madrid in their latest Liga F clash at Alfredo Di Stéfano Stadium. Filippa Angeldahl then produced an unstoppable long-range strike to give Las Blancas a two-goal lead. However, they saw their advantage cut in half when Emilie Nautnes fired home after Maëlle Lakrar lost possession in her own box.

It was then the visitors’ turn to carelessly give away possession in the opening stages of the second period, creating the opportunity for Redondo to score her second of the game. Rather than be deterred by Real Madrid’s third, Madrid CFF delivered a positive response to net two quickfire goals. Nautnes sealed her brace shortly before Nataša Andonova guided a first-time strike past the outstretched Misa from the edge of the box.

The away side appeared to be on course to collect a point until the hosts unleashed a late onslaught to net four goals beyond the 80-minute mark. An own goal was quickly followed by a Caroline Weir effort, then Angeldahl scored her second to take Real Madrid’s tally to five. There was still time left for Linda Caicedo to get in on the act, as Madrid sealed a fourth consecutive Liga F win.

Deportivo La Coruña 1-2 Granada

Granada came from behind to clinch maximum points at Riazor. Millene steered the ball home from Ainhoa Marín’s cut-back to give Dépor a half-time lead. However, the game turned just after the 70-minute mark when Granada netted two quickfire goals to record a third consecutive victory.

First, Ornella Vignola produced a thunderous striker from the edge of the box to level the scoreline. Just moments later, Edna Imade chopped onto her right foot to create the angle to curl a fierce strike into the far corner. The effort represented Imade’s 14th Liga F goal of the season, while the result has moved Granada to within four points of the top three with three games left to play.

Eibar 1-1 Espanyol

Eibar were given the chance to open the scoring when the referee pointed to the spot for a handball. Mariana Cerro kept her composure to net the subsequent penalty, sending her side into the break with a narrow lead.

The hosts looked set to hold on for the win until Júlia Guerra equalised in the 81st minute. The 23-year-old produced a glancing header from Iara Lacosta’s corner to rescue a point for her side. Espanyol are now six points clear of the drop zone with just nine points left to play for.

Levante 2-2 Atlético Madrid

Atlético Madrid suffered a setback in their latest Liga F outing and bid to secure Women’s Champions League qualification. The visitors made a strong start to their away clash against Levante, establishing a two-goal lead inside the opening half an hour. Fiamma guided the ball home after Levante were dispossessed in their own box. Ana Vitória then doubled Atleti’s advantage, driving a low shot past Andrea Tarazona in the Levante goal.

The hosts ultimately gained a crucial foothold when Ivonne Chacón pulled a goal back just before the half-time interval. The Colombia international linked up with Anissa Lahmari before racing in behind to score her 11th league goal of the season.

Levante were given the chance to pull level when the referee spotted a foul in the box in the second half. Ángela Sosa shouldered the responsibility to rifle home the subsequent spot-kick, clinching a precious point for her side. Levante have now moved four points clear of the bottom two.

Athletic Club 2-0 Costa Adeje Tenerife

Athletic closed the gap to third-placed Atlético Madrid with a successful home outing against Tenerife. After playing out a goalless first half, Irene Oguiza opened the scoring within four minutes of the restart. The midfielder bundled the ball in from close range to net her fourth Liga F goal of the season.

The hosts quickly added a second to effectively seal all three points. Daniela Agote’s cross from a short corner drifted into the far corner to the delight of the fans at San Mamés. Buoyed from their victory, Athletic will have the chance to move into third spot when they face Atlético on Matchday 28.

Real Sociedad 0-2 Valencia

Valencia’s dream of pulling off a great escape remains alive after claiming all three points in their away meeting with Real Sociedad. Marina Martí opened the scoring with her fifth goal in seven matches. The forward’s shot proved too strong for Julia Arrula, who could not keep the ball out despite getting a right hand to it.

The hosts were given the chance to equalise when the referee spotted a handball in the box. However, Nerea Eizagirre saw her tame penalty comfortably gathered by Antonia Canales.

The visitors maintained their narrow advantage until they added a second in stoppage time. Substitute Emma Martín conjured up a stunning long-range effort to seal a much-needed victory. Valencia still need to overcome a six-point gap to safety with just three games left to play.

Real Betis 1-1 Sevilla

Betis stayed in the bottom two after being held to a draw by local rivals Sevilla. Rosa Márquez required just seven minutes to give Betis the lead. After collecting the ball from deep, she drove towards the edge of the box and worked the space to curl a low shot into the bottom corner.

The home side saw their advantage cut out in the opening stages of the second period. Natalia Padilla-Bidas cut inside from the left flank before driving a near-post shot past the unmoved Esther Sullastres. Betis ultimately had to settle for a point, which moved them within one point of safety.
