Rhasidat Adeleke was the star of the show on the final day of the 123.ie National Senior Track and Field Championships, setting a new Irish record of 11.13 in the 100m race at Morton Stadium. She finished ahead of Sarah Lavin in 11.37, breaking Lavin’s previous record of 11.27 from last year. Adeleke now holds every Irish sprint record from 60m to 400m, both indoors and outdoors.
After the race, Adeleke expressed her gratitude for the support from the crowd and her joy in setting a new national record. Thomas Barr also had a successful day, winning his 12th national title in the men’s 400m hurdles with a time of 50.61. Other notable performances included Sarah Healy claiming the 800m title and Sophie O’Sullivan winning the 1500m title.
