Former Formula 1 driver David Coulthard believes that Red Bull’s era of dominance was bound to come to an end after 2023, likening it to reaching the summit of Everest.
In 2023, Red Bull made history by winning 21 out of 22 races, but by 2024, they had dropped to third in the F1 constructors’ championship, winning only two out of 14 races.
Although Max Verstappen secured his fourth consecutive title, it was evident that Red Bull’s dominance had faded away.
Reflecting on his former team’s struggles, Coulthard acknowledged that Red Bull faced challenges in innovating after their exceptional performance in the previous season.
Red Bull still managed to win more races than McLaren and Ferrari in 2024, despite finishing behind them in the constructors’ championship standings.
Coulthard praised McLaren for their remarkable turnaround over the past two years, starting from having the slowest car in 2023 to becoming title contenders in 2024.
He commended McLaren for their ability to deliver performance consistently and highlighted their impressive progress in the sport.
