McLaren has announced the hiring of Will Courtenay, Red Bull’s Head of Race Strategy, as its new Sporting Director. Courtenay will report to Randeep Singh, Racing Director, and will focus on enhancing McLaren’s sporting operations as the team aims for continued success.
With two decades of experience at Red Bull, Courtenay’s expertise will strengthen McLaren’s sporting department and contribute to improving the team’s performance on the track. Andrea Stella, McLaren’s spokesperson, expressed excitement about Courtenay joining the team and highlighted his professionalism and passion for motorsport.
Courtenay’s move to McLaren marks the third significant departure from Red Bull this year, following Adrian Mewey and Jonathan Wheatley’s transitions to Aston Martin and Audi, respectively. A Red Bull spokesperson acknowledged Courtenay’s long service with the team and wished him well in his new role, mentioning that he will fulfill his contract until mid-2026.
