Cameron Brink’s rookie season was cut short when the Sparks big tore her ACL just 15 games into her season. Despite the short year, Brink quickly became a fan favorite and an elite defensive player for Los Angeles.

Updates on Brink’s recovery have been few and far between during the offseason, but in December, we received some positive news on her injury.
Now, during the WNBA Draft, host Holly Rowe of ESPN gave us another update on how Brink is progressing in her rehab.
“Checking in with her and her people today, she said she’s doing really well in rehab. She is so blessed to be working with some of the best in the business, Susan Borchardt and Curtis Borchardt of The Athlete Blueprint are helping with her rehab. Sources close to the Sparks have told me she is likely to return around June before the All-Star break. So Cameron Brink, one of those bright young stars, looks to be back on the court soon for the LA Sparks.”
Brink potentially returning by June would be great for her and the Sparks. It would mean she took about a year to recover, which is typical for an ACL tear, and it would also indicate she suffered no significant setbacks during her rehab process.
As a rookie, Brink averaged 7.5 points, 5.3 rebounds, 1.1 steals and 2.3 blocks per game.
Those block numbers, maintained throughout the season, would have made her the second-best shot blocker in the WNBA, behind only Las Vegas Aces star A’ja Wilson.

If Brink returns even right before the All-Star break, that should give her 22-plus games to play before the regular season comes to a close.
With Kelsey Plum now a Spark and new rookies like Sarah Ashlee Barker, perhaps Brink’s return could be part of a playoff push in Los Angeles and help end the team’s four-year drought of not having postseason play.
Even though Brink will miss much of her sophomore season, her return will be welcomed and needed, as she has a lot of professional basketball on her calendar.
Not only is Brink playing in the WNBA for the Sparks, but she also joined Unrivaled and will play with the Lunar Owls in 2026.

So if she’s back by June, she can finish her WNBA season and pivot to Unrivaled action when the Sparks are done playing.
