The Los Angeles Dodgers have claimed catcher Chuckie Robinson off waivers from the Los Angeles Angels and transferred right-hander Tyler Glasnow to the 60-day injured list, the team announced Saturday.
Dodgers News: Mookie Betts’ Injury Revealed
The Dodgers designated longtime backup catcher Austin Barnes for assignment just over two weeks ago, and promoted rookie catcher Dalton Rushing. Now, it appears the Dodgers are adding another backstop to the roster.
Robinson is hitting .272 with 18 runs batted in and an OPS of .703 with the Triple-A Salt Lake City Bees this season. The 30-year-old has seen little time in the big leagues, making his Major League debut in August 2022.
Robinson has appeared in 51 Major League games since then with the Chicago White Sox and Cincinnati Reds. He’s a career .132 hitter in the majors, but has recorded just 129 at-bats.
The latest news surrounding Glasnow indicates the right-hander won’t return until late June, barring no other setbacks. Glasnow is one of 14 Dodgers pitchers on the IL this season, an indication that the team’s pitching woes from 2024 have only continued this year.
The Dodgers rotation won’t be getting any of their staple starters back relatively soon, which once again will likely put pressure on the bullpen that is already overworked.
