The Los Angeles Dodgers claimed 26-year-old outfielder Mike Siani off waivers from the Atlanta Braves on Friday.

Siani played 19 games in MLB in 2025 for the St. Louis Cardinals before they designated him for assignment as they shaped their 40-man roster for the offseason. The Braves claimed him early in November, but designated the outfielder for assignment upon signing outfielder Mike Yastrzemski on Wednesday. Through his 19 games with the Cardinals last season, Siani batted .235 with a .551 OPS.
He started as the Cardinals’ starting center fielder in 2024, though is largely a defensive specialist. Siani posted 16 outs above average in 2024, placing in the 99th percentile that season. He batted .228 through 124 games in 2024, hitting two home runs and recording 20 RBIs with a career-high .570 OPS.
Prior to 2024, Siani played eight games with the Cardinals and Cincinnati Reds in 2023 and nine games with the Reds in 2022.
He played 101 games for the Cardinals’ Triple-A affiliate in Memphis in 2025, where he batted .209 and had a .636 OPS.
The Dodgers have been on the lookout for a defensive outfielder, and Siani definitely fits the bill. While his bat is lacking, he could very well play a role similar to the one Justin Dean played for the Dodgers in 2025.
Siani will be the 39th player on the Dodgers’ 40-man roster, though Edwin Diaz’s addition to the roster will fill the final spot once his signing is made official.
The Dodgers have had a vacancy in the outfield all offseason, as Michael Conforto left to free agency following the end of the 2025 season. Siani will most likely not start for the Dodgers, but provides LA with reasonable depth as they continue to patch the holes in their lineup.Â
