Los Angeles Dodgers reliever Edgardo Henriquez was poised to earn a spot on the Opening Day roster this spring, but a metatarsal injury in his left foot kept him sidelined for the start of the season.

Neither the Dodgers or Henriquez would reveal how the 23-year-old sustained the injury after he arrived to Camelback Ranch with a walking boot on early in spring camp.
Now, months later, Henriquez is still not inclined to share how he was injured.
“I’d rather keep that to myself,” Henriquez said to the Los Angeles Times.
The right-hander was called up by the Dodgers a month ago, and Henriquez got to make his season debut against the Minnesota Twins. He’s joined the big league team multiple times this season because of injuries to the Dodgers bullpen.
Tanner Scott, Kirby Yates, Michael Kopech and Brock Stewart are all on the injured list. However, Scott and Yates are expected to return this weekend.
Nevertheless, injuries opened the door for Henriquez and he’s certainly taken advantage of the opportunity. The right-hander has tossed eight scoreless innings for the Dodgers this season, and his velocity thus far has been simply jaw-dropping.
A whopping 28 of the 92 pitches he’s thrown this season have exceeded 101 miles per hour. Last weekend against San Diego Padres infielder Ryan O’Hearn, Henriquez threw the hardest-thrown pitch by a Dodger since Statcast began tracking speed in 2015.
The 23-year-old has shown much promise for the Dodgers bullpen, and has given the pitching staff a fresh arm when it was needed most.
