The Los Angeles Dodgers are expected to add bullpen help ahead of Thursday’s trade deadline.

USA Today MLB insider Bob Nightengale flatly told Dodgers Nation’s Doug McKain on Tuesday’s episode of Dodgers Dougout Live: “I’d be stunned if they don’t come away from the deadline with at least one late-inning reliever.”
One of the top relievers expected to be moved is St. Louis Cardinals right-hander Ryan Helsley. The 31-year-old is a two-time All-Star on an expiring contract, and likely to be dealt on a Cardinals team that is 3.5 games back of the third and final Wild Card spot in the National League.
Last week, Helsley seemed to believe he was on his way out while speaking to The Athletic.
“I would say it’s 90 percent I go, 10 percent I stay,” Helsley said.
On Tuesday, MLB.com’s Mark Feinsand provided an update on Helsley, calling him “one of the most popular trade targets” two days before the deadline. The Dodgers were listed among the six teams known to be in on him.

Helsley has made 36 appearances this season, sporting a 3.00 ERA with 41 strikeouts in 36 innings. Last year, he made his second career All-Star appearance, and finished the year with a 2.04 ERA over 66.1 innings with a league-leading 49 saves.
Over the course of his seven-year career, Helsley has a 2.67 ERA and 105 saves across 275 appearances.
Helsley would give the Dodgers the high-leverage, right-handed reliever they’ve been searching for. Even though he’s on an expiring contract, his high interest around the league could make him an expensive three-month rental for the regular season and playoffs.
