Los Angeles Dodgers All-Star starting pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto didn’t get out of the first inning on Monday in the team’s series opener against the Milwaukee Brewers.
Yamamoto only recorded two outs, giving up five runs (three of them earned) in a nightmarish start to the road trip for the Dodgers.

Yamamoto threw 41 pitches and left the mound in a 5-0 deficit. He was replaced by left-hander Jack Dreyer, who recorded the final out of the inning.
Things immediately got off to a rough start for Yamamoto as he allowed a leadoff double to Sal Frelick. He then walked William Contreras, before recording back-to-back outs to set up a potentially clean inning.
The recently-called up Andrew Vaughn, making his first start for the Brewers since being acquired in a midseason trade, hit a three-run home run off Yamamoto in his first at-bat for Milwaukee. Yamamoto then allowed a single and another walk, and a Mookie Betts throwing error allowed another run to score and the inning to continue.
After the No. 9 hitter, Andruw Monasterio, hit a bloop single for an RBI, manager Dave Roberts came out of the dugout to remove Yamamoto from the game.
Yamamoto has been the ace of the Dodgers all year, entering the start with a 2.51 ERA that has since ballooned to 2.77.
He was just named to his first All-Star Game, joining Clayton Kershaw, Will Smith, Shohei Ohtani and Freddie Freeman as the Dodgers’ representatives.
