The Atlanta Braves acquired St. Louis Cardinals right-hander Erick Fedde, who was designated for assignment last week. All five members of the Braves’ Opening Day rotation is on the injured list, so this move bolsters Atlanta’s rotational depth, who also acquire cash while sending cash or a player to be named later to St. Louis.
Additionally, the Kansas City Royals and right-handed starting pitcher Seth Lugo agreed to a two-year extension. The 2024 All-Star was reportedly a major trade target for a few teams looking for starting pitching depth, but he is now set to stay in Kansas City for the foreseeable future.
Finally, St. Louis Cardinals third baseman Nolan Arenado is reportedly garnering some heavy trade interest. After a few murmurs that he would be moved this offseason, talks have heated back up ahead of July 31.
