Rick Brunson Accepts Lesser Role To Remain On Knicks Coaching Staff

Rick Brunson will take a lesser role on the coaching staff of Mike Brown than he did under Tom Thibodeau. The New York Knicks parted ways with Thibodeau and hired Brown this offseason. Brown will hire a new associate head coach.

Rick Brunson is on board with no longer being the Knicks’ top assistant.

“This is what’s best for the organization and the players,” a source said.

The Knicks hired Rick Brunson as an assistant coach in 2022 shortly before they signed his son, Jalen Brunson, in free agency away from the Dallas Mavericks.
