We probably should have seen this coming after the shipping container MMA league.
Social media influencer Sergey Boytsov, along with Umar Kremlev from the Boxing Federation of Russia, helped organize a “sweet science” showdown on top of a hot air balloon, floating perilously at roughly 1600 meters with no insurance and no parachutes.
“On August 21, 2024 we set a new world record,” Boytsov wrote on Instagram. The world’s first balloon dome ring fight (without parachutes and insurance) at an altitude of 1600 meters. The project was implemented under the auspices of the Boxing Federation of Russia. Umar Nazarovich Kremlev managed to unite aviation, parachuting, aerospace sports and, of course, boxing.”
“This unity and cohesion project is what our country needs now,” Boytsov continued. “Believe in each other, go to the end and never give up! I always dreamed that we, Russians, would create projects and records, with no analogues in the whole world! And they didn’t even care about going abroad. Thanks to Umar Kremlev this dream became reality.”
“Over 73 people worked on the World’s First Altitude Battle for six months. Balloon Pilot, President of the Air Sports Federation, Constructor, Parachutist Fighters, Professional Aircraft Pilots, Helicopter Pilots, Ground Shooting Team, Aerial Shooting Team and many others. In a few days the video will be released in all my social networks. The event was officially recorded in the Book of Records of Russia. With the new world record, Russia!”
Up next, two Russian MMA fighters will jump from an airplane with only one parachute, fighting during their free fall to see who lands safely. Okay not really; but at this point, would anyone be surprised?
