Sabrina Ionescu is crediting the Las Vegas Aces for strengthening the New York Liberty team. After a 76-62 victory over the Aces on Sunday, securing a spot in the WNBA Finals, Ionescu had high praise for the Aces organization.
Ionescu’s performance in Game 4 was stellar, helping the Liberty clinch a 3-1 series win over the Aces and advance to the WNBA Finals. The veteran guard contributed 22 points, seven rebounds, and two assists in the victory.
After the game, Ionescu commended the Aces organization.
“They’ve elevated our team,” Ionescu stated. “As a part of the new generation in the league, I didn’t witness the success of teams like the Minnesota Lynx when I was younger. Being in the league now and witnessing their consistency and success over the years is truly impressive. While we’ve reached the Finals and fallen short, they’ve been able to win twice. It speaks volumes of their unity and experience.”
Las Vegas had secured the last two WNBA championships in 2022 and 2023. Their quest for a third consecutive title fell short this season.
Following this setback, Aces coach Becky Hammon hinted at potential offseason moves to enhance the team for the 2025 season.
Hammon stated, “We’ve never had exit meetings; it’s always been exit parties. We need to come together and assess how we can improve. It’s crucial to scrutinize our weaknesses and make necessary changes to present the best team possible. It’s likely that the team makeup will change next year, which is bittersweet because I have a strong bond with this group.”
Ionescu and the Liberty are now awaiting the victor of the Connecticut Sun-Minnesota Lynx series in the WNBA Finals.
