Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou believes a repeat performance against Eintracht Frankfurt next week could be enough to see them reach the Europa League semi-finals.

Spurs dominated the first leg tonight, as they tried to secure a win that would ease the pressure on their Australian head coach, but couldn’t find a winner after Pedro Porro cancelled out Hugo Ekitike’s early goal.

Ekitike struck after just three minutes, bursting Spurs’ bubble after the home supporters had cranked up the atmosphere pre match.

Porro cleverly diverted home James Maddison’s left-wing cross to draw the home side level but they could not find a winner as Lucas Bergvall and Rodrigo Bentancur both hit the woodwork while Eintracht goalkeeper Kaua Santos pulled off a string of fine saves.

A great cross from Maddison, an even better finish from Pedro Porro sees Spurs go level! 🤩

Postecoglou happy with Spurs’ second-half efforts

Postecoglou told TNT Sports: “On any other night we go away with a comfortable victory. We have to go there and we knew it would get decided in the second tie. If we repeat that performance we give ourselves a chance.

“For us, the biggest blow we had was conceding so early. That kind of played into their hands, I always felt we’d finish the game strong.”

Postecoglou is expecting a similar game in Germany next Thursday.

“I don’t expect the second game to be to open, it’ll be cagey affair and it’ll come down to moments,” he added.

“The second leg is going to be tight for sure, it might even go to extra-time, we’re going to need all the lads ready to go. The good thing is we have most of them back and healthy which is important.”
