The Seattle Storm are on the road as they travel to take on the Los Angeles Sparks on Tuesday afternoon. Seattle comes in off an 81-70 win over Atlanta at home Sunday, failing to cover the line as a 14-point favorite, in their previous contest. Los Angeles downed Dallas 87-81 on the road in their previous game Saturday, winning outright as a four-point underdog. In the last 10 meetings between the teams, they each have five victories. This season, the teams split two meetings with the Sparks prevailing 84-79 on May 4 while the Storm earned a 95-79 win on June 11 with both meetings coming in Seattle.

Seattle Storm Looking to Head Into Break With Momentum
Seattle won their second straight game as they took down Atlanta at home Sunday. The Storm ran their record to 16-8 on the season and stood tied for second in the Western Conference, half a game behind the Aces for the top spot. They were tied for fourth in the overall standings, four games behind the Liberty for the top spot. Against Atlanta, Seattle led by one after the opening quarter and trailed by two early in the second quarter before going on a 12-0 run to take a 40-30 lead. The Storm led the rest of the way, regrouping after seeing the Dream make it a one-point game with 9:01 to play. Seattle shot 40% from the field, including five of 28 from three-point range, and forced 16 turnovers in the win. Ezi Magbegor led the Storm with 18 points in the win as one of five players in double figures.
The Storm comes into this contest third in the league in scoring offense with an average of 84.1 points per game. Seattle is tied for second in rebounding (36 boards per contest) and is fifth in the league in assists by dishing out 21 dimes per night this year. The Storm are 4th in scoring defense as they allow 77.4 points a game so far this year. Jewell Loyd leads the team with 19.7 points, 4.6 rebounds and four assists per game this season. Los Angeles Sparks Shoot to Prevail at Home
Los Angeles won for just the second time in the last 12 games as they were able to beat Dallas on the road Saturday. The Sparks entered Monday fifth in the Western Conference with a 6-17 mark, leaving them 10 games behind Las Vegas for the top spot. They were 10th in the overall standings, three games behind the Sky for the final playoff spot. On Saturday against Dallas, Los Angeles led by four after one quarter, by one at the half and by as many as 11 in the third quarter only to trail by a pair at the end of three stanzas. The Sparks rallied in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Wings 26-18 to earn the victory. Los Angeles shot an even 50% from the floor, including six of 14 from three-point range, and forced 16 turnovers in the victory. Dearica Hamby led the Sparks with 27 points and five assists in the win.
On the season, Los Angeles is 10th in the league in scoring offense as they average 78.8 points per game. The Sparks are 10th in rebounding (32.5 boards per game) and 6th in assists (20.2) this season. Los Angeles is 9th in scoring defense as they give up an average of 85.2 points a night. Dearica Hamby leads the team with 19.4 points plus 10 rebounds a game this season. Rickea Jackson (11.2 points, 3.8 boards) and Kia Nurse (7.9 points) are solid secondary scoring options. Curt Miller hopes to get more from role players like Azura Stevens (11.7 points, six rebounds, four assists), Aari McDonald, Lexie Brown, Cameron Brink, Li Yueru, Layshia Clarendon, Rae Burrell, Zia Cooke and Stephanie Talbot. Los Angeles is 10th in field goal percentage on the season as they shoot 42.6% from the field as a team on the year. The Sparks are 7th in three-pointers per game (7.4) and 7th in three-point shooting as they convert 32.8% from beyond the arc this season. Los Angeles is 10th in success at the charity stripe as they cash in 76.2% of their attempts on the year.
Brink (knee) suffered a torn ACL June 18 and is out for the season. Brown (Chron’s disease) last played on June 20 and is out.
