Sky Fans Look Away as Chennedy Carter Gives Cryptic Response to Re-Signing With Chicago
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Chennedy Carter made her WNBA debut in 2020, but it took her four years to secure a spot in the starting lineup again. Her journey has been tumultuous, moving from team to team and from the bench to the court. However, her future with the Chicago Sky, where she found some stability, remains uncertain for the 2024 season as she becomes a restricted free agent.

Throughout her career, Carter has been associated with the Atlanta Dreams and the Los Angeles Sparks, facing scrutiny for her behavior on multiple occasions. Despite this, during an exit interview, she hinted at a possible return to the Chicago Sky.

In a statement to Chicago Tribune’s Julia Poe, Carter expressed her desire to be in a place where she is valued. She emphasized her enjoyment of playing for Chicago and her willingness to return if the team shows interest in resigning her. Despite facing challenges and controversies, Carter remains one of the league’s top scorers.

After being drafted by the Atlanta Dream, Carter was suspended in 2021 following an altercation with a teammate. She then joined the Los Angeles Sparks for the 2022 season but struggled to make an impact on the court. Ultimately, she found success with the Chicago Sky after a brief stint in Turkey.

Despite facing criticism for her on-court conduct, Carter continues to excel on the court, ranking among the top scorers in the league. Her performance has garnered praise from Chicago Sky head coach Teresa Weatherspoon, who values her coachability and versatility.

Carter’s impact on the Chicago Sky has been significant, with the team experiencing losses in her absence. As she continues to showcase her skills and resilience, the question remains whether she will remain with the team and overcome the obstacles she has faced in her career.
