Securing a playoff spot in 2024 is a top priority for the Chicago Sky, especially with Angel Reese’s impressive rookie season. The team is also excited about the upcoming construction of a new $38 million practice facility, set to be completed by Dec. 2025.
The new facility will be situated next to Wintrust Sports Complex and will span approximately 40,000 square feet. It will include two regulation WNBA courts, private player facilities, player lounges, a film room, an advanced training room, a private chef’s kitchen, and more. Players will have 24-hour access to the facility year-round.
Previously practicing at a facility 30 miles away from Wintrust Arena, the Sky will now be just 11 miles from their home court once the new facility is finished. This will allow players to live closer to downtown Chicago and have a shorter commute.
Sky co-owner Nadia Rawlinson expressed her excitement for the new facility, stating that it will provide top-notch athletic performance and amenities for the players. The location in downtown Chicago will also offer players the chance to enjoy all the benefits of the city.
As construction begins in the fall, the Sky will continue to strive for a playoff spot with Reese leading the way. The rookie standout has been averaging 13.5 points and 11.9 rebounds per game, earning an All-Star nod in her first 24 starts.
Stay tuned for updates on the construction progress of the new state-of-the-art practice facility.
