Chicago Sky rookie Angel Reese made history by becoming the first player in WNBA history to achieve consecutive games with at least 20 rebounds on Friday night. Even with an impressive performance on the glass, the Sky unfortunately lost to the Connecticut Sun, 82-80.
Reese faced challenges around the basket but managed to contribute with 13 points, 20 rebounds, and two blocks while shooting 3-of-12. She played a significant role in the Sky’s attempted comeback in the second half, which fell short in the closing minutes.
Putting Reese’s accomplishment into perspective, only seven other players have achieved multiple 20-rebound games in their careers, with Sylvia Fowles, Tina Charles, and Jonquel Jones being the only other players to achieve this feat in the same season. After just two games, Reese is now tied for fifth all-time in this category.
Currently, the relentless Reese is averaging 12.6 rebounds per game for the season, leading the league and potentially setting a record for the highest single-season average in WNBA history.

Reese’s dominance on the offensive boards was highlighted in the loss to the Sun, with seven offensive rebounds. Her 5.07 offensive rebounds per game lead the league and could potentially set a new single-season record, surpassing the previous mark set by Yolanda Griffith.
With the pace she’s on, Reese is on track to break records for total rebounds and offensive rebounds in a single season. She only needs 53 more rebounds to surpass Fowles for total rebounding and 21 more offensive boards to surpass Griffith for offensive rebounding with 12 games remaining in the season.
