Sophie Cunningham has been exploring ventures outside of basketball during the offseason. Front Office Sports caught up with Cunningham for a series of rapid-fire questions, and the Fever guard had some blunt answers.

When asked who would be the last person she would choose to run her social media accounts, Cunningham instantly named Caitlin Clark, saying the Fever superstar would instigate a mess.

“Oh, 1000% Caitlin Clark,” Cunningham said. “She is a shit starter. She would definitely start some stuff over there.”

Cunningham played with Clark for the first time last season, but both suffered season-ending injuries during the regular season, missing out on the Fever’s playoff run.

Cunningham appeared in just 30 games before tearing her MCL. She put up 8.6 points, 3.5 rebounds, 1.2 assists, and 1.0 steals per game.

Meanwhile, Clark sustained a groin injury, which limited her to just 13 games in the season. When she played, Clark was brilliant for the Fever, recording 16.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, 8.8 assists, and 1.6 steals per game.

The Fever reached the semifinals, where they lost in five games to the eventual WNBA champions, the Las Vegas Aces.

After her one-year run with the Fever, Cunningham entered the offseason as a free agent. Meanwhile, Clark continues to work toward a return to the court.

Sophie Cunningham calls out players’ apparent resentment toward Caitlin Clark

Sophie Cunningham was an avid defender of Clark throughout the season. In August, she called out players’ apparent resentment toward Clark during an episode of her “Show Me Something” podcast.

“It literally pisses me off when people are like, ‘She’s not the face of the league.’ What?” she said. “There’s really good, well-known people in our league. I’m not discrediting them. We have a lot of badasses in our league. Hell yeah to that. I’m all for that.

“But when people try to argue that she’s not the face of our league or our league would be where we’re at without her, you’re dumb as s**t. You’re literally dumb as f**k.”

Clark is widely credited for spearheading the WNBA’s rise in popularity in the past two years.

Now, the league enters a crossroads as it awaits a new Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) before the 2026 season.
