The Confederation of University and College Sports Association (CUCSA) Region V Games officially began with the 2024 edition at the Tshwane University of Technology and University of Pretoria from 8-12 July, 2024.
After the opening ceremonies, the action-packed first day commenced. The South African women’s football team started the competition against Botswana, securing a dominant 8-0 victory.
Simultaneously, the South African netball team faced Botswana as well, achieving a decisive 75-10 win in their first match.
South Africa continued their success with an 86-16 triumph over Zimbabwe on the first day of competition.
The South African Women’s basketball team also emerged victorious as they received a win by forfeit from Malawi.
Tuesday’s schedule includes volleyball, with athletics to follow in the upcoming days.
The CUCSA tournament features various sports such as netball, football, basketball, volleyball, and athletics. Universities and colleges from Southern Africa are competing for trophies and titles.
