Southwestern University seeks candidates for the position of Head Men’s & Women’s Tennis Coach. This position will serve as the Head Men’s & Women’s Tennis Coach program and provide outstanding leadership in support for Southwestern University students. This individual may potentially teach ESS or Fitness and Recreation Activities (FRA) program. This is a 12-month, full-time, exempt position with benefits.
Primary Duties:
Provide skill instruction and conditioning work consistent with a high-performing NCAA Division III varsity athletic program.
Recruit and retain highly talented athletes who also have the academic acumen to thrive at Southwestern University.
Financial management of the program including strict adherence to university budgets.
Participate in fundraising activities to support program objectives.
Comply with all University, conference, and NCAA policies, procedures, and bylaws.
Mentor University students by modeling professionalism and high moral standards.
Support classroom excellence by utilizing all available University resources in support of students.
Craft a competition schedule which allows for the demonstration of athletic excellence while remaining financially prudent.
Hire, train, and supervise assistant coaches and volunteers.
Serve as an Administrator in Charge (AIC) of select University events.
Participate on campus committees as requested.
Instructor for ESS or FRA classes if qualified.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree
Demonstrate success in coaching or competing at a highly competitive level.
Certification in CPR and First Aid or willing to become certified within three months of hire.
Willingness to adhere to the University’s core values.
Knowledge, understanding, and acceptance of cultural differences and the diversity within the campus and community.
Preferred Position Requirement:
Master’s Degree
Three or more years of coaching at the college or post-secondary levels.
Knowledge and experience in Collegiate or professional playing in the sport.
Knowledge and experience in recruiting college-level varsity athletes.
