The Spar Proteas dominated Kenya in their first match of the 2024 Africa Netball Cup, setting the stage for a strong campaign in Swakopmund, Namibia on Monday, 9 December, 2024.
The tournament features two pools of four teams each, with each team playing once before the knock-out rounds begin on Friday. The new African champions will be crowned on Saturday, 14 December.
The Spar Proteas claimed a resounding 74-29 victory over Kenya, securing the top spot in Pool 1 as they prepare to face Malawi Queens and defending champions Zambia in their remaining group stage matches.
Other notable victories on Day 1 include Kenya’s upset win over Zambia and Namibia’s decisive win against Eswatini. Zimbabwe also celebrated a narrow victory over Uganda to secure second place in Pool 2’s standings.
Namibia claimed the top spot in Pool 2 with a strong 58-47 win over Eswatini.
Namibia faces a tough challenge against three-time champions She-Cranes in the upcoming matches, as Uganda looks to secure a spot in the knock-out rounds starting on Friday.
