Glasgow Girls and Women have notified SWF of their intention to ‘fold’ their senior team with immediate effect and withdraw from the Barclays Scottish Women’s Championship.
This development comes despite practical support throughout the current season from SWF and significant external funding.
The club continues to work towards a 2024 audit action plan put in place by SWF.
SWF stands ready to support any player who will need assistance in looking for a new club as a result of this decision.
As per the rules, Glasgow Girls’ withdrawal from the Championship renders league results and fixtures against them null and void. The league table will be updated accordingly.
As per the constitution, the Perform and Win Committee has the power to determine the composition and structure of leagues and competitions and an announcement on how this news will impact on relegation and promotion will follow.
SWF can also confirm St Anthony’s have withdrawn from SWFL South due to a lack of players. Similarly, the SWFL South table has been adjusted to reflect this.
