Stirling University and Stenhousemuir secured their first victories in the Barclays Scottish Women’s Championship during the second weekend of the Scottish Women’s Football senior season.
Despite Falkirk’s strong performance in the opening day derby, Stirling University’s well-organised defense kept them at bay to earn their first points of the season.
Kelise Aitchison opened the scoring in the eighth minute, followed by two goals from Emily Gray to seal the win.
Stenhousemuir also emerged victorious with a second-half goal from Evie Carruthers, clinching a 3-2 win over Forfar Farmington.
Morton triumphed 6-0 over Hutchison Vale at Cappielow, with a trialist scoring five goals along with strikes from Jen Caldwell and Kathryn Townsend. Despite playing an outfield player in goal, Hutchison Vale managed to save an injury time penalty to avoid a seventh goal from Morton.
Other notable results included East Fife defeating Dryburgh Athletic 8-1, Glasgow Girls edging out Renfrew 3-2, and Inverness Caledonian Thistle securing a 3-1 win over Westdyke in Aberdeenshire.
In the Barclays Scottish Women’s League One, Armadale Thistle won 6-0 against Airdrie Ladies, Inverurie Locos overcame Edinburgh Caledonia 6-3 at home, and Queen of the South defeated Dundee West 6-0 at their own ground.
Kilwinning and Dunipace faced off in North Ayrshire, with Kilwinning taking the lead early on through Robyn Wallace. However, Dunipace staged a second-half comeback to win 2-1, securing their first victory in the national leagues.
Bonnyrigg Rose also came from behind to beat St Mirren 2-1 in Paisley, with goals from Charlotte McDougall and Gabby Anderson.
