Former Parkway North girls’ basketball star Sug Sutton is having a magical WNBA season as the starting point guard for the Washington Mystics. In her third WNBA campaign, the 5’9” Sutton is averaging 7.6 points, 3.1 assists and one steal a game for the Mystics, who entered the week in seventh place in the league and in playoff contention.

Sutton is shooting 47% from the field, 42% from 3-point range and 70% from the free throw line. She has also provided steady and consistent play for a Mystics team that starts two rookies in Kiki Iriafen and Sonia Cintron.

Sutton had one of the WNBA’s top scoring performances last week when she registered 13 points in a victory over the Seattle Storm. She also scored 14 points against the Los Angeles Sparks this month.

She was a former McDonald’s All-American during her career at Parkway North and starred during her collegiate career at Texas.

Peach Jam bears fruit

St. Louis area prep basketball standouts Quentin Coleman of Principia and Jamison White of East St. Louis were instrumental in Brad Beal Elite’s run to the championship of the Nike EYBL Peach Jam.

Both players started the grassroots seasons as reserves on the team, but injuries pressed them into starting roles, where they both shone brightly at the Peach Jam.

In addition to celebrating the coveted Peach Jam title, the respective players have also seen their recruiting stock rise to prime-time level. Both players have received numerous offers from solid mid-major programs around the country.

The 6’3” Coleman received new offers from Wake Forest, Kansas State, Illinois, Virginia, and Iowa. The 6’8” White received new offers from Penn State and Vanderbilt.

Both Coleman and White were members of the St. Louis American “Fab Five” First Team All-Stars after the 2025 season.
