When riding to climbs and descending them, it’s important to have aerodynamic climbing wheels. Alternatively, you may prefer lightweight, shallow road wheels.
The Swiss Side Hadron2 and Pion2 wheelsets offer solutions with depths of 30-38mm and weights as low as 1,305g for the set. Here are the details and options…
Swiss Side Hadron2 Ultimate 380
The HADRON² Ultimate 380 is their lightest aero wheelset, with a 38mm rim depth and weights of 587g (front) and 718g (rear), totaling 1305g. It features a 20mm inner width optimized for 25-29mm tires and uses a tubeless clincher design.
Constructed with DT Aerolite II spokes and 180 DICUT hubs, it also includes ratchet EXP and SINC ceramic bearings. Modern freehub options are available on all three wheel options.
Swiss Side Hadron2 Classic 380
The Swiss Side Hadron2 Classic 380 features the same rim profile but utilizes DT Swiss Aerocomp spokes and 370 hubs with the ratchet LN system. This results in weights of 662g (front) and 814g (rear), totaling 1476g for the wheelset.
Swiss Side recommends pairing these wheels with the Continental Aero 111 tire on the front and GP 5000 STR on the rear for optimal aerodynamic performance.
Swiss Side Pion2 300
Designed for everyday training, the alloy Pion2 300 has a 30mm depth and 22mm internal width. It’s suitable for similar tire widths as the carbon Hadron models and is recommended to be paired with wider tires for optimal performance.
The Pion2 300 weighs 877g (front) and 1030g (rear) for a total of 1907g in a disc brake wheelset. Both disc and rim brake versions are available, built with DT Aero comp spokes and 370 hubs with ratchet LN system.
