Switcheroo! Mackenzie Dern Rematches Amanda Ribas At UFC Vegas 101, Not UFC Tampa

A top 10 Strawweight matchup is set to take place in “Sin City.”

Multiple sources have confirmed with MMAmania.com that No. 6 ranked Strawweight Mackenzie Dern will face off against No. 8 seeded Amanda Ribas on Sat., Jan 11, in the first main event of 2025 at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Originally scheduled to fight in the co-main event of UFC Tampa next week, Dern and Ribas will now have a rematch at UFC Vegas 101. They previously fought in 2019 at UFC Fight Night 161: “Joanna vs. Waterson,” where Ribas emerged victorious with a unanimous decision win.

Dern (14-5) bounced back from a two-fight losing streak in her last outing at UFC Saudi Arabia, where she secured a unanimous decision victory over Loopy Godinez. The 31-year-old had a 1-1 record in 2024 and received Fight of the Night honors in her loss to Amanda Lemos.

Ribas (13-5) had only one fight in 2024, but it was a significant one. She headlined her first UFC fight card against two-time former Strawweight champion Rose Namajunas. The Brazilian experienced a unanimous decision loss, but it was a closely contested fight.

Since 2021, Ribas has been alternating wins and losses while competing in both Strawweight and Flyweight divisions.
