Manchester City have today announced the signing of German international Sydney Lohmann. The midfielder joins the club on a three year deal that will see her remain in Manchester until the summer of 2028.
Sydney Lohmann joins the Sky Blues from Bayern Munich where she has spent the past eight seasons. During her time with the German giants, the 25-year-old has netted 23 goals whilst also helping her side to four Frauen-Bundesliga titles.
Lohmann has made 40 appearances for her national side, scoring six goals in the process. Securing a silver medal in the 2022 Euros alongside a bronze at the 2024 Olympic games, Lohmann has been instrumental in much of her countries success since making her senior debut in 2018.
I have a really positive feeling here at Manchester City
Speaking on the move, Lohmann said: “I have a really positive feeling here at Manchester City. I’ve always had the thought to playing abroad at some point in my career. I just had the feeling that this year was the right time to do that. I’m really thankful for the time at Bayern Munich and I’m happy that I gained those experiences. I think always when you go somewhere else, a big step like that, it’s always good for your personal growth, I definitely want to win a title, because I can see that’s possible. Things have probably been quite tough in the last few months or year and everyone is really hungry to do better. I can tell that by chatting to people and I want to be part of that. I want to contribute with the strengths I have.”

Manchester City Women’s Director of Football Therese Sjogran added: “We’re really pleased to bring a player of Sydney’s quality and stature to the Club. She is no stranger to success and her record in Germany and on the world stage speaks for itself. She’s a proven winner but also someone who’s still hungry to achieve more at the top level, just like City. We believe Sydney can be a driving force at the Club in our push for silverware next season and beyond.”
