Tempe, AZ – The Intercollegiate Tennis Association “ITA” is pleased to announce today the six collegiate selections slated to represent Team USA at the 2024 Master’U BNP Paribas Championship in Reims, France.

These six collegiate selections include Savannah Broadus (Pepperdine), Sebastian Gorzny (Texas), Amelia Honer (UCSB), Mary Stoiana (Texas A&M), Gavin Young (Michigan), and Michael Zheng (Columbia). Broadus, Stoiana, and Young are all returners from the 2023 Master’U Team USA delegation that took home gold in France last year.

Known as “The World Event of University Tennis,” the Master’U BNP Paribas Championship is in its 17th year. The tournament will once again welcome eight nations for several days of high-level competition between many of the top-ranked student-athletes from both NCAA institutions and other university systems around the world. The 2024 edition will be played from November 29 – December 1 in Reims, France at an indoor facility in the city.

As a returning Team USA member, Mary Stoiana had this to say about being selected to compete for a second straight year in France alongside other top American collegiate players:

“I am honored to be selected to represent the United States in France this year,” stated Stoiana. “I’m super excited to return to the Master’U event and give the United States the opportunity to defend our title from last year. It was one of the most enjoyable tennis weeks of my life and I’m grateful for the opportunity to compete there again.”

With a rich history of success, former Team USA Master’U Championship selections include Danielle Collins (Virginia), Austin Krajicek (Texas A&M), Mackenzie McDonald (UCLA), Ena Shibahara (UCLA), and Chris Eubanks (Georgia Tech). Team USA has won 10 of the past 11 gold medals at this event, including each of the past four editions.

In 2023, Team USA comprised of Savannah Broadus (Pepperdine), Murphy Cassone (Arizona State), Fiona Crawley (North Carolina), Eliot Spizzirri (Texas), Mary Stoiana (Texas A&M), and Gavin Young (Michigan) took down Great Britain in the finals to claim Team USA’s 11th title in the events 17-year history.

Newcomer to the team, Amelia Honer provided some thoughts about her selection to Team USA and what it means to represent her country in just a few weeks in France:

“I feel very lucky for the opportunity to represent Team USA in such an awesome event,” noted Honer. “I can’t wait to compete alongside such strong American players and also against other top collegiate players worldwide. It is an honor to represent my country and I couldn’t be more excited for the opportunity.”

Coaching Team USA in 2024 will be Robin Stephenson (Washington) and Andrew Rueb (Harvard). Stephenson returns to the coaching staff after coaching alongside storied Team USA coach, Greg Patton (former Boise State) last year. The 2024 Championship marks the first year in which Team USA will be without Coach Patton since the tournament was first founded.
