Chicago Sky star Angel Reese is undoubtedly one of the brightest young talents in the WNBA and women’s basketball today.
A two-time All-Star, Reese established herself as a double-double machine. In her rookie season in 2024, she set a new record for the longest double-double streak with 15, surpassing Candace Parker’s record of 12.
Reese also led the league in rebounds per game in 2024 (13.1) and 2025 (12.6), which are the two highest rebounding averages in WNBA history.
Amid the WNBA offseason, Reese continues to work on her game. That is why she’s thrilled to be part of the USA Basketball training camp over the weekend, during which she was able to learn from the likes of Chelsea Gray, Kahleah Copper and Aliyah Boston, among many others.
“You want to be surrounded [by] and play with the best,” Reese said about being part of the USA Basketball training camp. “To be the best, you got to play with the best and you got to beat the best.”
The Sky star added, “So I’m just really thankful to be able to be here with the best. I’m not going to take this moment for granted. I’m so thankful because a lot of people don’t have this moment.”
Reese proceeded to mention how she’s just absorbing everything she sees from her teammates, such as Gray’s passing, Copper’s energy and Boston’s post-up game.
USA Basketball shared a video of Reese’s statement and agreed with her take, captioning its post, “Iron Sharpens Iron.”
The Team USA basketball camp ended on Sunday. Now, USA Women’s National Team managing director Sue Bird is set to evaluate the players before making a decision on the roster for 2026 FIBA Women’s World Cup.
The competition will take place in Berlin from Sept. 4 to 13, 2026, with the USA aiming to win its fifth straight championship.
Sure enough, it will be interesting to see if Reese makes the cut.
