Teofimo Lopez Fuels Exit Rumours with Bold Social Media Post
What Social Media Post Means for Lopez Career
Following a back-and-forth with Devin Haney on
X
, Lopez directed a bold post at his promoter Top Rank:
“What’s my Buyout again? @trboxing I’m leaving this post definitely
to
! #SpeakMyTruth #MyWordIsMyBond.”

Lopez was last seen in the ring, defeating
Steve Claggett
by unanimous decision. The Brooklyn native has been linked with fights against Jaron Ennis and Devin Haney.
It appears his
next fight could be away from Top Rank if the WBO super lightweight champion gets his way.
Bob Arum to Dan Rafael
“The Takeover” has had numerous contract disputes with Top Rank since 2016. Earlier in October, 2024, the former unified lightweight champion
sent a letter to Top Rank
claiming that his contract was invalid. The new post from Lopez will surely not go down well with Bob Arum and his Top Rank colleagues. Arum when speaking to
Dan Rafael
in October addressed the Lopez situation:
“Teofimo sometimes acts like he has a screw loose,”
said the Top Rank CEO.

He continued:
“You know, I like the kid, and I get along with him
personally
, but I can’t figure him out and he makes no logical sense. I mean, he signed the extension with us first with a Pedraza fight, which didn’t happen, and then when we did another fight for him with Sandor Martin, he signed the same extension, referring to the fact that the Pedraza fight didn’t happen.”
During the interview with Rafael, Arum seemed
hopeful
the relationship with Lopez was repairable:
“I don’t want to disparage anybody because that doesn’t do any good, but eventually sanity will take hold
and
we’ll be doing a fight for Teofimo,”
Arum said.
Despite that optimism, this latest outburst will seemingly not go down well at Top Rank HQ.
