THC can be enjoyed in various forms. THC drinks and THC gummies offer two options that are becoming increasingly sought-after, if not the most common ones. You’ve probably tried both already.

Which of these is your favorite? Now that you’re on this page, it’s highly likely you’re trying to figure out which is the best for you.

You are in the right place, we are taking a deep dive into both types of THC. Read on to learn all there is to know about both options work, which of these hits harder, and faster, and why.

The Key Differences

First things first, how do THC gummies and drinks differ? Well, it’s all in how the two are absorbed into your body.

The Gummies

You unwrap a gummy, and savor all that goodness. As you enjoy the sweet, chewy treat, the THC in it starts a long and winding journey down your gut, and gets processed in your liver. Then, it gets absorbed into your bloodstream, in what is known as first-pass metabolism.

After this process, THC is converted into 11 hydroxy-THC, a more potent, and longer-lasting compound. It’s not as fast as it might sound; the entire process usually takes anywhere from 30 minutes to 2 hours for the effects to kick in.

 THC Drinks

Most of the CBD and THC drinks on the market use a nano-emulsification process. This helps in breaking THC down into smaller particles, allowing for faster absorption in the stomach, unlike traditional edibles, which rely on digestion and liver processing.

THC drinks, therefore, are easier and faster for your body to absorb. It takes around 10-30 minutes for THC to be absorbed from these drinks, which is way faster than most edibles.

Which One Hits Faster?

Well, it’s quite apparent that THC drinks win in speed, all thanks to their water-soluble formulation. The onset of effects is surely going to be faster. So, if you’re looking for more of an almost immediate effect, this is your go-to option. But wait, does it hit harder?

Which One Hits Harder?

This is where it gets nuanced, as both are not similarly intense.

Gummies often hit harder

Because of how the liver metabolizes THC, it is transformed into 11-hydroxy-THC. This makes the high more intense for many users. The peak effects are typically more profound and longer-lasting, sometimes up to 6–8 hours.

Drinks are softer

On the other hand, drinks provide a lighter, more manageable high. This is more so the case in lower doses. That’s why most enthusiasts prefer them for social settings, and daytime use. This is especially the case for those new to THC, because they deliver a smoother ride with less risk of being overwhelmed.

Dosage Control and Experience

Gummies

Dosing can be more straightforward. You can’t go wrong with a 10mg gummy; it’s easy to measure and repeat. But be warned, the delayed onset means you can easily take too much too soon, thinking it’s not working. This can lead to a heavier-than-expected high.

Drinks

The liquid format makes micro-dosing easier. You can sip slowly, monitoring your dose in real time. And when you’ve reached your desired effect, you stop.

Which Should You Choose?

There’s no right or wrong choice when picking either of these. Whichever choice you make here depends on your goals and tolerance. In case you’re still undecided, let’s do a quick recap, shall we?

To Wrap It Up…. Which One Wins?

Are THC drinks better than cannabis edibles, or are edibles the better choice? This duet has no winner or loser, you can call it a tie. The best option truly depends on what you’re looking for in your cannabis experience. Whichever you choose, make sure you go for a choice that best suits your needs and the setting.

If you want a fast-acting option with a lighter high, go for a THC drink. THC in these beverages is absorbed quickly, so you’ll feel the effects in as little as 10–30 minutes.

But if you’re after a stronger, longer-lasting experience and don’t mind waiting for it to kick in, THC gummies are your best bet. Gummies take longer to metabolize, usually 30 minutes to 2 hours, but they deliver a more potent, enduring high.

Ultimately, both options have their perks, so why not experiment and see which one suits your vibe? Just remember to start low and go slow – especially if you’re new to edibles. Whether you’re sipping or snacking, enjoy responsibly!
