The 10 Best Masters Food Items

We are officially less than 50 days from the start of the 2025 Masters.

The Masters is a big deal around the MyGolfSpy office. While we love covering the competitive play at Augusta National, our biggest focus is on the patron experience—which is unlike anything else in golf.

That is why we talk a lot about the perfect way to spend a day at the Masters, the different ways you can attend, how the no-phone policy makes attending the tournament even better and a lot more.

You can expect a lot of patron-focused content from us as we lead up to the Masters. I’ve had the good fortune of attending the tournament several times so it’s fun to offer advice and talk about the tournament from the perspective of someone who is attending for the first time.

Today we are talking about Masters food.

Most of the time when you attend a sporting event, the food being offered at the concession stand is mediocre and wildly overpriced. I once paid $60 for two baskets of chicken tenders and two beers at a Stanley Cup Final game. Not ideal!

At the Masters, the food is made with care—and it’s reasonably priced. As of the 2024 event, you can purchase one of every item for around $70.

On top of that, the concession stand is a master class (pun intended) in how to effectively move people through quickly and efficiently. Items are pre-made/pre-poured and lined up to “grab and go” as you proceed through the line. Because of this, I’ve never waited more than a few minutes in all the years I’ve been attending. If there is a line, an employee stands at the back of the line to show where you should enter and the sign they carry displays the approximate wait time (this is also true for bathroom lines).

Hopefully, this operation is being studied by other sports. It’s truly impressive.

But what should you get when you go?

The answer is that you should try everything. Buy everything you possibly can including extras of anything that won’t spoil on your travels back home.

Look, this isn’t the time to start a diet. You will gain a few pounds even with the treacherous walk up and down Augusta National’s hills.

If you are going to skip something, you can pass on the BBQ sandwich. If you are interested in good BBQ at all—and there are some great options within a short drive of Augusta—you will immediately recognize that this sandwich absolutely stinks (though combining it with the pimento is an upgrade).

But buying one of everything is not a compelling enough answer. You came here to see what are the best food items.

Here are my personal top 10 Masters food items.

1. Peach ice cream sandwich ($3)

A true gift from the gods.

The peach ice cream sandwich features a hunk of delicious peach ice cream held together by two sugar cookies. There are small chunks of frozen peaches inside the ice cream.

Made by the Christie Cookie Co., this ice cream sandwich has the incredible ability of still being chewy despite being stored in a freezer. You would assume eating one is a messy process but, surprisingly, the ice cream and cookies stay intact with little struggle.

Even if it did fall apart, the taste of this ice cream sandwich would be worth the trouble.

Some people pass on this because they don’t like the taste of peach. I wouldn’t say that flavor is overpowering, though. It’s not like you’re biting into an actual peach.

The sandwich was not available in 2022 due to supply-chain issues from the pandemic. Don’t worry, this baby came back on the menu in 2023 and should never leave.

2. Breakfast sandwich ($3)

Not as hyped as more classic staples in the Masters food arsenal, this breakfast sandwich is something I would happily buy outside of the hallowed grounds.

In fact, I would put it in the “well above average” category of breakfast sandwiches I’ve had.

In typical Masters fashion, the label on the bag just says “breakfast sandwich” with no further details. Well, the ingredients are egg, bacon, sausage and cheese on a buttery bun.

A little kick of hot sauce and your morning is off to a strong start.

3. White chocolate pecan cookie ($1.50)

If you haven’t been able to tell, I really love cookies.

The white chocolate pecan cookie is absolutely dynamite and a must-try item if you like cookies.

While I get that pecans are not for everyone, the flavor between the white chocolate chunks and the pecans is incredible.

4. Egg salad sandwich ($1.50)

This is a patron favorite among the core sandwich options. It’s also trendy for people who want to hype up the egg salad while throwing shade at the pimento.

I say they are both really good.

The egg salad has the right amount of mayo and isn’t dry. You can also eat this at any time of the day without worry. You want it for breakfast? That seems normal. You want it for lunch? That makes sense.

While I support “airport rules” of eating/drinking whatever the hell you want while you attend the Masters, some of these food options are a little rich for a 7:45 a.m. snack.

5. Georgia pecan caramel chocolate cluster ($2)

We’re going back to the dessert menu one more time.

The pecan caramel chocolate cluster is absolutely delicious. It’s hard to mess things up too much when you combine melted chocolate, caramel, dough and butter.

If you really want to blow your mind, buy a peach ice cream sandwich and then lodge the clusters into the ice cream. Now you are adding some chocolate kick to the peach flavor.

You might need to be rolled back to the car but it will be worth it.

6. Masters club ($3)

When you see the word “Masters” on the sandwich—the only sandwich with such a distinction—you would assume it’s good.

And you would be right!

This is a turkey, ham and cheese sandwich with a faint, slightly vinegary mustard. The mustard isn’t something that takes over the sandwich but I wouldn’t want to eat this without it.

The meat is thinly sliced so you can take down a few of these with ease.

There are a couple of other deli options if you don’t like this one. The ham and cheese on rye (same mustard on it) is decent but I’m not a huge rye fan. There is also a chicken salad on brioche option (a relatively new item) that just doesn’t hit for me.

7. Pimento cheese sandwich ($1.50)

This sandwich incites a lot of passionate opinions.

I’m a fan of this simple sandwich that is just two pieces of white bread enveloping a glob of pimento cheese spread. It’s a classic for a reason.

However, this is a lot of cheese and you really need to like cheese for this to be worth it.

I may only have one or two of these per tournament because it’s just hard to eat multiples of this sandwich.

At the same time, eating one of these is strangely comforting.

Have I ever eaten a pimento cheese sandwich outside the Masters? Maybe 15 years ago in college.

Will I sit down by myself at the 18th green to eat one of these while devouring a sweet tea (something else I only consume at the Masters)?

Yes, yes, I will.

8. Mini Moon Pie ($1.50)

Moon pies are a staple of the South. This version is very good.

This is a food item that tastes exactly how it looks. It features a couple of crispy chocolate-covered cookies with gooey marshmallow filling.

If you like Twix and similar candy bars, this is up your alley.

I could take down 20 of these in a single tournament day. I haven’t … but I could.

9. Chicken biscuit ($3)

As a huge chicken biscuit fan, I can say that the Masters version is solid but clearly behind the top three sandwiches of egg salad, Masters club and pimento.

I find that the quality control of this sandwich isn’t perfect. The chicken biscuit can be dry sometimes and much juicier other times.

It’s not my first Masters food choice but I think it pairs well with a lot of other choices here.

10. Blueberry muffin ($2)

I’m not a huge muffin fan based on texture and messiness of eating. For that reason, I can’t rank it ahead of other sweet options.

However, it’s hard to deny the deliciousness of this muffin.

If you like muffins, you won’t be disappointed.

Honorable mention

Classic chicken sandwich ($3) — This is just a breaded chicken sandwich and it comes cold without a condiment. If you heated this up and put mustard on it, it would be very good.

Chocolate toffee brownie ($1.50) — A little too dry and not your typical brownie flavor. I think the Masters outsmarted itself here. Just give us a regular brownie.

Fresh Mixed Fruit ($2) — I didn’t come here to eat anything healthy—but for those of you who are responsible, here is some fruit.
