The 1993-94 California Bears had a remarkable season with standout players like Jason Kidd and Lamond Murray. Kidd, a sensational talent, averaged 16.7 points, 9.1 assists, 6.9 rebounds, and 3.1 steals per game, breaking the school’s record for most assists in a season. Paired with prolific scorer Murray, the Cal squad made their mark in the Golden State.
Murray, the all-time scoring leader for the Bears, was a force on the court, known for his scoring ability and athleticism. The dynamic duo of Kidd and Murray kept opponents on edge with their skillful plays and court vision.
With Kidd’s rise to fame, the Cal Bears enjoyed national attention, resulting in sold-out games at the Oakland Coliseum. Kidd’s legacy lives on, as his jersey now hangs in the rafters of Haas Pavilion.
The ’91 recruiting class, including Kidd and Murray, elevated the Bears to new heights by facing NBA stars in practice and games. The competitive spirit within the team pushed them to excel and dominate the competition.
