The All England Lawn Tennis Club has unveiled its inaugural official esports competition, the Wimbledon eChamps presented by American Express, Official Partner of The Championships since 2019. This event will mark the first tennis esports tournament using TopSpin 2K25, a revival of the popular tennis simulation video game series.
The eChamps kicks off with open qualifiers, giving TopSpin 2K25 players the chance to climb the rankings and vie for a spot in the live finals at Wimbledon in September. The qualifying rounds will take place across four European countries and North America, including the UK, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Mexico, Canada, and the US. Players can sign up for the tournament starting today (28 June) and qualifying matches will commence on 6 July.
Qualifiers will compete at the prestigious grounds of the Wimbledon tournament, with the in-person finals held in the Media Theatre at Wimbledon. Participants will vie for the title of Wimbledon eChampion and a fully funded trip to the Gentlemen’s Singles Final in 2025*. Additionally, the winner will receive a special gold-plated PlayStation 5 console with their name and achievement engraved by Wimbledon’s official engraver.
