In 2021, Dallas had the No. 1 pick and selected Charli Collier, who is no longer in the league. The Wings initially had the second pick but traded for the top choice. This was the franchise’s 11th time participating in the lottery before finally winning this year with a 22.7% chance.
The Los Angeles Sparks, with the highest chance of 44%, will now pick second. Last year, they also picked second and fourth in the draft.
”We’re excited to have the second pick in the upcoming draft,” said LA Sparks GM Raegan Pebley. ”Having a lottery pick in the deep 2025 draft ensures we can add a key player to our roster during this important time in our history. Our team is already working hard to explore all our options with the lottery and our other three picks.”
The Chicago Sky will pick third after a trade with Dallas in 2023 prevented them from getting the No. 1 pick.
Washington, who last won the lottery in 1999, will pick fourth. The Mystics, still in need of a coach and GM, had just under an 11% chance of getting the top pick.
The Wings recently hired Miller as the new GM but are still looking to hire a coach after parting ways with Latricia Trammell last month.
