The main point: After seventeen weeks and numerous controversial calls, the NFL’s playoff spots and seeding will be determined in the final two days of the regular season. The pressure is on.
Just to recap, 14 out of 32 teams in the league make the playoffs – seven from the AFC and seven from the NFC. Four AFC spots are already secured and five in the NFC.
A three-way tie at the top of the AFC South: The Jacksonville Jaguars, Indianapolis Colts, and Houston Texans all have 9-7 records, making the division title up for grabs. The Jaguars have the tiebreaker and just need a win against the Tennessee Titans on Sunday at 1 p.m. ET to clinch it.
But before that, the Texans and Colts face off tomorrow at 8:15 p.m. ET. The winner greatly improves their playoff chances and could potentially win the division if the Jaguars stumble.
The NFC South is still undecided: In another three-way battle, no team in the NFC South has a record better than .500. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers can claim the division with a victory against the Carolina Panthers on Sunday at 1 p.m. ET, while the New Orleans Saints and Atlanta Falcons hope for a Bucs loss as they play each other.
The Green Bay Packers control their fate: Despite missing Aaron Rodgers, the Packers could secure a playoff spot by defeating the Chicago Bears on Sunday at 4:25 p.m. ET. If they lose, chaos ensues.
The must-watch game of the weekend: The AFC East showdown between the Buffalo Bills and Miami Dolphins on Sunday at 8:20 p.m. ET. The Dolphins have already clinched a playoff spot, but the Bills, once a Super Bowl favorite, could miss the playoffs with a loss. It’s a nail-biter.
