The Las Vegas Aces are still quite the powerhouse team, however they currently have Kelsey Plum set to enter free agency. The Aces made an interesting decision before the season started, which they signed three out of the four of their starting core to an extension except Plum. Las Vegas could still choose to core Plum, but there is the chance, a very slim chance, that the Aces could do a straight swap with Plum for Loyd. If the Aces were to lose Kelsey Plum, trading for Jewell Loyd who is still such an offensive threat in the league would fill the big gap that Plum has for Las Vegas.
Jewell Loyd is 31 but still has a lot left to give, her veteran experience and having won two finals before would be a great addition to a Las Vegas team that is hungry to reach the Finals once more. The Las Vegas Aces were trying to do what is basically the impossible and three-peat during the 2024 season but failed to do. The Las Vegas Aces should really only attempt a trade for Loyd if they lose Plum, because Loyd is still a starting five player and putting talent like her on the bench wouldn’t be useful.
