This weekend saw the awards ceremony of The Ring magazine take place in London, England. A star-studded gala honored the best of the year and put on a spectacular show for viewers around the world.
The event featured impressive production, a new addition for the sport, and brought together top fighters, trainers, promoters, and other boxing personalities. The gala was supported by the Riyadh Season and His Excellency Turki Alalshik.
Oleksandr Usyk was crowned Best Boxer of the Year after a phenomenal 2024, during which he defeated Tyson Fury twice and solidified his status as the top heavyweight of the era and the best pound-for-pound fighter today. In the women’s division, the undisputed flyweight champion, Gabriela Fundora, was recognized as the youngest woman to achieve such a feat.
The fight of the year was the contest between Raymond Ford and Otabek Kholmatov on March 2 for the WBA featherweight title. After a thrilling battle, the American emerged victorious by technical knockout.
Other notable awardees included Robert Garcia as Trainer of the Year and Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano for the Best Female Fight. The event organized by Riyadh Season, featuring Usyk and Fury in their first fight, received the Event of the Year award. A special tribute was also given to the boxing legend Don King for his illustrious career.
