The All-Star Game had a unique format this year, pitting Team USA athletes of the future against WNBA stars who were not selected for the team. The result was Team WNBA defeating the future Olympians 117-109, led by Arike Ogunbowale’s incredible 34-point performance in the second half, including 8-of-13 shooting from beyond the arc. Coach Cheryl Miller’s pep talk clearly made a difference. Angel Reese made history as the first rookie to achieve a double-double in the game, while Caitlin Clark became the first to record double-digit assists. The WNBA season has been thrilling, especially with rookies living up to their potential from the NCAA season. It’s impressive considering the shortened break between seasons and the higher number of games in the WNBA. The upcoming Olympics break will be well-deserved.
