WNBA fans reacted to Alyssa Thomas’ latest career move, as he joined Plan B for the inaugural season. While the Collective Bargaining Agreement has been stalled between the WNBPA and the league, Thomas’s move might trigger a mass exodus if the agreement is not reached soon.
Thomas announced her move through a video on her social media post.
“I am looking forward to joining Project B,” she said in the video.
Reacting to the update, one fan made a wild prediction about the league’s future.
“THE WNBA IS DONE🔥🔥.”
Another fan supported Thomas’ decision in light of the pending Collective Bargaining Agreement.
“Hey what the W won’t Do…Project B will! Let goooo AT! 🙌🏾.”
“Don’t be mad at AT…be mad with the W.”
One fan supported the idea of a WNBA player being fairly paid.
“I know that’s right go get your money and be treated right!!! 👏👏🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥.”
One fan didn’t like Alyssa Thomas joining the league because, according to the fan, it was supported by Saudi Arabia.
“The Project B league “Taking the Saudi $$$. I won’t be supporting.”
Another fan came forward and defended the league and denied the Saudi funding.
“So has nobody in these comments bothered to look up the fact that the league has already stated they do not have any funding from Saudi Arabia?”
For clarity, Project B co-founder Grady Burnett had already clarified that the league didn’t “include any dollars from Saudi Arabia.”
One fan declared that Alyssa Thomas’s joining the league was profitable for the new league.

Project B and Unrivaled are developing while WNBA struggles to find agreement with players
It has been an interesting few years in women’s basketball. In 2022, Athletes Unlimited was founded. The Unrivaled, co-founded by Napheesa Collier and Breanna Stewart, organized its inaugural season earlier this year.
The 3×3 league claimed to have paid the highest average salaries to a professional women’s basketball team in the world. On top of that, they paid an additional $50K to the winning team players.
According to Front Office Sports, Project B, which will host games across the world, is paying millions of dollars to multiple players, starting at $2 million. While only two players have openly declared that they have joined the new league, FOS reported that multiple players have already signed contracts.
In terms of the schedule, none of the three leagues harms the WNBA. However, these leagues combined, not posing a threat to the WNBA, would also be reductive.
