Paige Bueckers stole the spotlight at the 2025 WNBA Draft as the number one overall pick, but she wasn’t alone in making headlines. The former UConn standout had support from her longtime teammate Azzi Fudd, who attended the April event in New York to cheer on her friend.
Teammates at UConn, the two made headlines this week when Fudd posted a photo on social media of a selfie, but on the phone case was something very interesting. WNBA star Cameron Brink took to her podcast to discuss the post, their friendship, and more.

Speaking on the “Straight2Cam” podcast with Cameron Brink and Sydel Curry-Lee, Brittany Hampton shared that Bueckers and Fudd had planned to coordinate their outfits for a cohesive look. The duo’s draft night appearance quickly went viral, and WNBA star Cameron Brink was all for it.
The former Stanford superstar could not hide her admiration, saying, “They both really looked stunning.”
Brink did not stop there. She related to their journey, pointing out the adversity they had all faced along the way.
“I feel like Paige and Azzi, I have gone through what they have gone through with injuries and adversity. So whenever I see them, I just think, they get it. They are good people. That is why they are besties.”
Brink is currently sidelined with a left knee injury. She tore her ACL and meniscus in June of last season during a game against the Connecticut Sun, and has not returned to full contact play since.
Similarly, both Paige Bueckers and Azzi Fudd suffered ACL tears during their UConn careers. Bueckers missed the entire 2021–22 season with a major knee injury and then the full 2022–23 season with a torn ACL, while Fudd sat out most of 2023–24. They returned stronger, helping lead UConn to the 2025 national title.
Fudd and Bueckers have always been close, their friendship dating back to their days as teammates at UConn. Even after Bueckers was drafted first overall by the Dallas Wings, Fudd has often been seen courtside showing support.

But a recent Instagram post from Fudd stirred up conversation for a different reason. In a mirror selfie she shared over the weekend, fans noticed her phone case had a message printed on it. “Paige Bueckers’ girlfriend,” it read.
The post quickly made waves online, leaving people wondering if she was being serious. Fudd has not addressed the buzz, but the timing and wording have only added to the curiosity surrounding the pair.
While there has been speculation on whether the pair was dating or romantically involved, neither duo has commented. Regardless, together, they formed a dynamic duo for Geno Auriemma’s squad. Now, Bueckers takes on WNBA talent, while Fudd gears up for another season of college ball.
