LeBron James appears to be fed up with the internet and its constant jokes and negativity, prompting him to take a break.
During a game against the Jazz, Lakers rookie Dalton Knecht had an impressive 37-point performance, leading to LeBron being asked about it and his knowledge of internet memes.
“Everyone online constantly accuses me of lying. They claim that I lie about everything. So, what does that make me now?” LeBron questioned reporters after the game when discussing Knecht.
“I closely followed him. I watched a lot of Tennessee games. I never expected him to fall to us. I thought it was impossible. I still can’t figure out how that happened,” he remarked on how the Lakers managed to acquire Knecht at No.17.
Shortly after, LeBron announced his decision to take a break from social media.
He first shared a post from Kevin Durant’s agent, Rich Kleiman, highlighting the negativity on social media – a message Kleiman had originally written on October 25.
“In a world full of hate and negativity, it’s puzzling why some in the national sports media continue to cover sports with such negative takes,” Kleiman stated. “We all recognize that sports is one of the few things that brings people together. So, why can’t the coverage reflect that unity? It’s only click bait when you allow it. With such a large platform, you have the power to make a change and give us all a break from the negativity in real life. Personally, I find it all a waste of time. The Olympics and JJ and Bron’s show represent the future of what sports coverage could and should be.”
LeBron then declared he was leaving social media, adding a final statement.
And with that said I’ll holla at y’all! Getting off social media for the time being. Y’all take care ✌🏾👑
