UFC light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira’s quick breakup with flyweight star Tracy Cortez drew wild reactions from fight fans.
Alex Pereira and Tracy Cortez nearly broke the internet when they announced their new relationship earlier this month. Just a week later, Pereira and Cortez are making headlines for their abrupt breakup.
Pereira, who reclaimed the UFC light heavyweight title at UFC 320 last year, spent New Year’s Eve with Cortez. The two UFC stars were seen kissing and making their new relationship public.
Trolls targeted UFC lightweight Brian Ortega, Cortez’s ex-boyfriend, on social media after the announcement. Luckily, Ortega took the whole thing in stride and was supportive of Cortez’s new love life.
Pereira confused fans when he recently took to Instagram to announce that he and Cortez are no longer together.
“Thank you to my fans for all the love,” Pereira said in a statement. “I would like to communicate with you guys that even though me and Tracy shared some great moments together, we decided it would be better for the both of us to go our separate ways. I wish her nothing but the best in her journey.”
Alex Pereira – Tracy Cortez relationship prompts wild UFC fan reactions
UFC fans had a field day on social media after Pereira shared the news of his breakup with Cortez.
“Bro clapped and was like this ain’t it,” one fan wrote on Instagram.
“Literally a hit and run. Great collaboration. Do you want to marry way too soon?” another said.
“I knew asking for marriage while dating in just a week was a red flag! Champ didn’t disappoint me.”
“Bro said Chama and I’m out.”
“Gave her the Cama and left, god bless.”
“Journey is the best way to describe her life.”
“Back up from my knees at the store.”
“No bad luck on Chama anymore.”
“At least our boy kept it respectful?”
“It’s when she asked about marriage publicly 1 day after announcing their relationship, that’s an ick for a guy.”
As of this writing, Cortez hasn’t shared any comments on her recent breakup with Pereira. She hasn’t fought since a loss to Erin Blanchfield at UFC 322.
