The return of Tyson Fury to the heavyweight division is confirmed and a matter of months away.
‘The Gypsy King’ announced his comeback earlier this month and has been training in South-East Asia as he prepares another bid to become a three-time world heavyweight champion.
Speaking on social media, Fury said he had missed boxing, citing his love for the sport and a renewed ambition to reach the summit as the driving forces behind his latest return.
Tony Bellew, who has verbally crossed paths with Fury in the past, welcomed the 37-year-old’s comeback and explained why when speaking to Fightlens.
“I’m happy to see him back. The most important thing is that we see Tyson Fury with boxing gloves on. That means the lad’s happy and he’s doing it for the right reasons.
“The last thing I’d ever want is to turn on the news or scroll through social media and see Tyson struggling with depression or anything like that. When he’s in a boxing gym, he seems happy. So to me it doesn’t really matter if he retires 25 times and comes back 26.
“He creates headlines and says some extremely controversial stuff, but the boy can fight. When he gets in a boxing ring, we’re all going to be watching.”
Fury has spoken openly about his mental health struggles in the past and how boxing provides him with focus and discipline. His ring return is expects to be in April — wherever it takes place, and whoever against, the heavyweight division will once again have all eyes fixed firmly on Tyson Fury.
