Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Tony Gonsolin has confirmed that he is healthy and prepared for the upcoming 2025 season. After missing all of last year, the team considered Gonsolin as a potential option for the postseason.
Gonsolin has emphasized the importance of maintaining his health throughout the entirety of the 2025 campaign, learning from the previous season’s lessons on the unpredictability of injuries.
“I entered the offseason at 100 percent, so I should be fully ready for spring training,” Gonsolin shared with Doug McKain of Dodgers Nation. “I’ve been following my usual workout routine and making some adjustments to ensure my health for the upcoming year.”
Having observed the postseason from a viewer’s perspective this year, Gonsolin acknowledged the impressive performances of the Dodgers’ pitching staff and their consistency throughout the games.
“It was great to see how well our guys attacked the zone with their quality pitches,” Gonsolin commented. “They really showed their skills and determination throughout the postseason.”
Despite being a cat lover, Gonsolin had no issue with the Dodgers bullpen being referred to as “dogs,” acknowledging their outstanding performance in the postseason.
Following a successful rehab assignment in Triple-A Oklahoma City in September, Gonsolin showcased his abilities with 12 strikeouts and two runs in 7.2 innings of play.
Although there were speculations about his potential return during the 2024 season, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts confirmed that Gonsolin would not be making a comeback unless there were unforeseen circumstances.
Looking ahead to the 2025 season, the Dodgers are planning to implement a six-man rotation, including Gonsolin, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Shohei Ohtani, and Tyler Glasnow. General manager Brandon Gomes revealed this strategy in an effort to prevent a repeat of the pitching staff’s struggles during the previous postseason.
