During Squawk Box on Tuesday, Becky Quick brought up Vance’s poor polling numbers and asked Emmer if taking a more “prosecutorial” or “lawyerly” approach would benefit the Ohio senator in the debate.
“I believe the polling you’re referring to is due to the fact that people haven’t been introduced to Tim Walz,” Emmer responded, but Quick clarified that she was specifically referring to Vance’s numbers.
“However, consider this. Tim Walz wasn’t on anyone’s radar, and then he emerges. Suddenly, everyone is taking notice of him and his energy. But no one is discussing the issues. As people become familiar with Tim Walz, their opinions of him change,” Emmer explained, emphasizing that the debate is Vance’s opportunity to introduce himself to the American public.
